Bhd. (TRe) embarks on birds identification initiative at LSS Sepang Solar.
Findings of the effort was performed during "Hari Hargai Alam" held at TNB Sepang Solar Sdn. Bhd.'s (TSS's) 50MW's solar farm at Kampung Labohan Dagang, Kuala Langat on 3 July 2023. Altogether, there are 28 birds species found at LSS Sepang, consists of 25 resident species and 3 migratory species. Local species include White Throated Kingfisher, Crested Serpent Eagle, Blue Tailed Bee Eater, and Red Wattled Lapwing, to name a few, while Pheasant Tailed Jacana, Lesser Whistling Duck and Long Tailed Shrike are those of migratory species. Also present was En. Ismail Hj Mamat a senior and an expert of avians from PERHILITAN who gave explanation on characteristics of birds, traits of identification, and ethics of birds watching, among other exciting topics. According to En. Muhammad Atif bin Mohd Fared, an Asset Manager of TRe, this initiative is carried out as an early effort to manage potential disruption to TSS’s operation whenever some birds’ population increase in future. Birds’ droppings can create hot spots on solar panel’s glass surfaces. It can also corrode equipment’s metal surfaces, etc. This cataloguing effort is considered as a baseline data, more of identifying birds species available at site and their behaviour. Should the need arise in future to manage the droppings, or other factors, appropriate anthropogenic measures can be devised in harmony suiting specie’s attributes. TRe’s “Hari Hargai Alam” ended with a sharing session among participants on peculiarities of creations in nature, in terms of its process, function and strategy, which are sophisticated, intelligent and sustainable, fit to be inspired and emulated as design solutions to our worldly problems. #tnbrenewables #renewablesenergy TNB Renewables & ILSAS bekerjasama menyahut seruan kerajaan dalam menjayakan Malaysia Energy Literacy Programme (MELP) bersama-sama Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Bukit Changgang, Banting, Selangor.
