KUALA LUMPUR: The Corporate Green Power Programme's (CGPP) total allocation quota of 800MW still has a balance of close to 30% or 236.58MW that has not been alloted.
The CGPP, which will be in commercial operations in 2025, is an initiative by the Energy Commission (EC). There have been a total of 71 applications for the solar power producer programme thus far, out of which 22 bidders- consisting of individual companies and consortiums - have been allotted quotas ranging from 7MWac to 30MWac, the EC said in a statement yesterday. The application for the CGPP had commenced from May 9, 2023 until Dec 31, 2023 or until the total allocation quota was fully subscribed, it said. "Under the CGPP, an eligible corporate consumer, which is normal consumer of the Electricity Utility Company, can have an agreement with a solar power producer for the virtual sale and purchase of the renewable energy (RE) produced by the solar power plant," it said. The EC said this will enable corporate consumers to enhance their image and help contribute to the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions by using RE. It also allows them to be supplied with secure and reliable power by the electricity utility company, it said. Among the companies that had been successful in their application include Cenergi EE Holdings Sdn Bhd (29.99MW allocation), Coara Solar Sdn Bhd (29.99MW), Gading Kencana Sdn Bhd (30MW), Sunway Construction Sdn Bhd (29.90MW) and TNB Renewables Sdn Bhd (29.99MW). The successful allotted companies shall apply for participation in the New Enhanced Dispatch Arrangement (Neda) programme within three months after the date of notification of application status, the EC said. "The failure to proceed to participate in Neda programme within the stipulated time may nullify this application. "In accordance with the EC's policies and the provisions of the Information Guide for CGPP, the companies are fully responsible for any costs and expenses in relation to the application and execution of the CGPP," it added.
